The Rolex Explorer family expanded in 1971, presenting the Explorer II as an updated version of the Swiss watch specialist’s first every ‘tool’ model. While the predecessor was intended for mountain exploration, the latter iteration was designed with a new 24-hour hand and fixed bezel, intended to assist with dark cave and deep terrain exploration.
